Vassilis Nykteris started training in ‘Athletic and Spiritual Association Kronos "ZanShinDoKan" in January of 2000 at the age of twenty five. For four years he trained under Kostas Yiannas (3rd Dan). In the mean time he was attending the seminars of Pascal Guillemin (6th Dan), student ofChristian Tissier (8th Dan). Those seminars constituted his first impact with the “unique and outstanding”, in his own words, Aikido that Christian Tissier teaches. They also stimulated him to travel to Paris, in the December of 2002, in order to take part in an international seminar of the French shihan.

In November 2003 he took the exams for the black belt (1st Dan) in front of Pascal Guillemin and in April 2004 he visited Paris once more. It was at this last seminar that he experienced the desire to probe deeply into the art of Aikido. His wish was fulfilled in S eptember 2004 when he left Greece to settle in Paris in order to train under Christian Tissier. Three years of daily, intense training followed. During those years he was given the 2nd Dan from the French sensei. He also had the chance to attend seminars of others great teachers of Aikido, such as Frank Noel (7th Dan), Yasuno sensei (7th Dan) and Endo sensei (8th Dan). In October 2006 he travelled to Japan. There, he was hosted for some weeks in Kyoto by the teacher Yoko Okamoto (6tn Dan) and then he visited the Honbu dojo of Aikikai in Tokyo.

In May 2007 he returned to Greece and founded Aikido Academy of Athens, while in the same year he was given the 3rd Dan (June 2007). In January 2010 takes part in the new Aikido dojo founded in the Olympic Stadium (Martial Way) while working on the development of Aikido in Cyprus, where under his leadership, established the Aikido Academy of Cyprus.After 3 years since the founding of the Aikido Academy in December 2010 he was awarded in Paris by French shihan the 4th Dan Aikikai.Now he works, under the guidance of the French shihan, for the spreading of the art of Aikido in Greece and Cyprus. Along with the practice of the art of Aikido attended at O.M. (Oriental Medicine and Shiatsu training center) part of professional training Rebirthing (alternative method of psychotherapy based on breathing and creative thinking). In 2010 he graduated and since then has occasionally function of Rebirther.

In October 2011 moves to start a new dojo founded in Greek in a space that is consistent with international standards of operation. With the launch of the new dojo is given another boost in Aikido in Greece. Regularly organizes events and seminars in Aikido Academy for his own or his master Christian Tissier. In November 2013 invited and he took part in the festival organized by the Japanese Embassy. In 2014 he was invited to open the world tournament for teenagers of Jiu JItsu, at the Olympic Stadium. In November of 2014 he graduated successfully from the Jiu Jitsu coaches school where he obtained a recognized diploma of coach C category. In June of 2014 the Aikido Academy with Vassilis Nykteris took part in the first Aikido festival that originated in Greece.

January of 2016 he was awarded with the 5th Dan Aikikai, after five years of dynamic progress in the area after dozens of seminars, events and holdings of art in various festivals. Today as technical officer of shihan Tissier in Greece, he is working to promote his system in our country
